This work explores the fragile yet resilient ties between language, meaning, and cultural exchange. Dictionaries, as repositories of shared agreements, record how symbols evolve into concepts. Since childhood, the artist has been fascinated by these volumes, reading them for the networks of association they create.Pages from seven different dictionaries are shredded, interlaced, and re-woven, embodying the continual deconstruction and reconstruction of the bond between signifier and signified. The weave suggests both repair and rupture, as fragments hold together while new meanings slip through the gaps. Chopsticks serve as structural elements, reinforcing the theme of connection. In Japanese, hashi means both “chopsticks” and “bridge,” symbolizing tools and language as mediators across cultures. Extending beyond the grid, they gesture toward future linkages, reminding us that meaning is never fixed but continually remade through encounter and exchange.
