In Letter Play, I explore the visual rhythm and graphic beauty of the Hindi script—not through linguistic fluency, but through form. I layer and mirror the letterforms into dense, almost architectural arrangements, letting repetition and reflection guide the composition. Though I don’t speak the language, I’m drawn to its shapes and the energy they carry. This piece plays with the tension between the signifier—the visible shape of the letter—and the signified—the meaning it traditionally holds. By disconnecting the two, I ask: can the signifier still communicate on its own? Can form evoke emotion or understanding, even when meaning slips away? For me, this work is a quiet experiment in connection—an invitation to feel language as visual music, beyond the limits of translation.
