rocks, paint

38"w x 50"h x 3"d

Stone explores the paradox of motion and stillness—the dialogue between gesture and gravity. Inspired by the swift, expressive marks of cartoonists and manhwa artists, the work translates the immediacy of a drawn line into a meditation on time, permanence, and energy.

Each composition pairs the raw solidity of a natural stone with a spontaneous brushstroke that suggests movement—an echo of wind, rhythm, or flight. The rock anchors the gesture, yet the mark seems to lift it into motion.

Through these quiet pairings, Stone reflects on balance: between weight and breath, matter and spirit, the enduring and the ephemeral. It asks a simple yet profound question—can stillness move?
